Statement
My work records my relationship to landscape. I make stop-motion animations, live storytelling performances, and site-specific sound installations. These works use the medium of sound particularly, because it can be felt as an intimate, physical resonance in the human body, and also travel immense distances through space. Sound unites places and their inhabitants, with both vibrating at the same frequency.
Teaching
As a teaching artist, I engage my students in creative risk-taking and encourage open-ended experimentation. I help my students explore various materials and media, learning how each is useful to them.
I am passionate about making arts education more accessible and equitable, especially since arts education is so often sidelined by the US public school agenda. Everyone deserves the space and encouragement to creatively express themselves.
